If you're experiencing issues while logging into the PC version of MetaTrader 4/5, you're not alone. This article covers some common errors and their solutions.

No connection

If you see a "No connection" message in the bottom right corner or in the Journal of MetaTrader, the following reasons could be causing the issue:

  1. Incorrect MetaTrader 4/5 Settings
This is the most common error. You might have entered your credentials incorrectly while logging in. Don’t worry; we provide detailed instructions at the end of this article on how to verify and correctly enter your account information.

  2. Weak or No Internet Connection
Make sure your internet is working on other apps or devices. A weak or intermittent connection may cause MetaTrader to lose connection to the server.

  3. Outdated MetaTrader Version
To resolve this, open MetaTrader, go to the Help section, and click on "Check for Updates" to ensure you have the latest version of the platform.

  4. Antivirus/Firewall Interference
If you're using an antivirus or firewall, try adding MetaTrader to the whitelist or temporarily disabling the program to test the connection. If MetaTrader works after disabling the antivirus/firewall, you've identified the cause of the issue.

Waiting for an update

If you see a black screen instead of your chart, it means MetaTrader is not receiving quotes. This could be due to:

  • Incorrect login details – Refer to the instructions below for checking and correctly inputting your account data.
  • Internet connection issues – Verify that your internet is working for other apps besides MetaTrader.

Incorrect login details

If you are unable to log in due to incorrect credentials, simply copy the credentials from the email you received during the account creation process to avoid mistakes.

If you've forgotten your password for a live account, you can easily reset it.

How to reset your trading password:

  1. Log into your Dashboard.
  2. Click on Account List.
  3. Click on the 3 dots symbol next to your trading account.
  4. Select Change password.
  5. Enter your new password and confirm it.
  6. Click "Change Password".

Once you've completed these steps, try logging in again.
